The mentioned above are some examples of competition for architecture awards.

1- Pritzker Architecture Award:

This award is found by J.E Pritzker and his wife, Cindy, in 1979 “to honor the living architect or architects whose architectural work combines talent, vision, and commitment that make these combinations so essential and enduring to humanity and produced the building environment through the art of architecture. The award is sponsored by Hyatt Investments Group. The annual prize is 100,000 US dollars, accompanied by official recognition and a large bronze medal. In 2018, an Indian architect named B.V. Doshi won this award.

Executive Director Martha Thorne selects nominees from a pool of award winners, academics, critics, and many more. Additionally, any eligible applicant may apply for the award by November 1st. The independent jury consists of 5 to 9 members who are professionals in architecture, business, education, publishing, and culture”. The winner will be announced in the spring. Since 2005, Peter Palumbo has been the president of the award, and previous presidents were Carter Brown (1979-2002) and Rothschild (2003-2004).

2- Aga Khan Award for Architecture

The Aga Khan Award for Architecture (AKAA), established by the Aga Khan V in 1977, is awarded every three years to an architectural project that addresses the needs and priorities of Islamic societies. This award seeks to identify and encourage architectural concepts in the fields of community development, environmental protection, contemporary design, environmental conservation, and landscape design. (AKAA) is a prize with a total value of US$1 million awarded to multiple projects, teams, and stakeholders.

3- AIA gold medal

The Gold Medal is the highest honor among the annual awards of the American Association of Architects. This award recognizes individuals whose work has a significant lasting impact on architecture. AIA is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of architecture, and famous architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Frank Gehry, Julia Morgan, and Moshe Safdie have received this award.

4- RIBA

The International RIBA Award is an award given by the Royal Institute of British Architects to buildings across the UK and the world. For the past 50 years, the prize has been awarded annually to individuals who have made achievements in architectural innovation regardless of shape, size, or budget. The Riba International Prize is awarded to outstanding projects by Riba members worldwide.

5- UIA gold medal

Since 1984, the organization has been awarded the UIA Gold Medal to honor an architect (or group of architects) for their work and professional methods by which they serve the public and society. The UIA Gold Medal is awarded annually and the awardee is recognized at a formal ceremony at the UIA World Congress of Architects. In 1984, the UIA hoped to gain the same appreciation and credit, and prestige as the Nobel Prize in the fields of art, science, and peace. This award is given to a living architect in order to honor their work and contributions to the people and society during their life and work, as well as to promote the art of architecture.
